Welcome to my first monologue where I share what’s on my mind. Some call them “downloads”, others “insights”, and still others “musings.” Here, I talk about personal revelations on my road to healing and various reflections on my travels, future, and all things wtf.
It’s a tricky thing to be in the public and balance the persona with the authentic. Usually the authentic voice is reserved for private conversations with a defined audience who will catch your meaning, give you the benefit of the doubt, and have the larger context of who you are and your actual life. I’ve had such amazing access to “successful” people who are well-known — some household names — and I see how they are perceived and how our society admires workaholics who speak truths about addiction, spiritual leaders whose personal lives are a mess, and people so belovedly branded they have to check with their PR people the way a child must check with their mommy.

Here, I’ve tried to be more myself, and this is probably the most insecure I’ve felt about sharing. Usually with memoir, such as the one I will be revising soon, I have a soundboard and drafts and rewrites and I can stumble, make mistakes, and become conscious of things I never even thought to consider by a small safe group of careful and caring readers before publishing. But here I spoke off the cuff (rambled?), late at night, tired but unable to sleep because thoughts and moving and Mom can I just stay up a few more minutes? And I decided to record it and throw it up here.
In the future, I will put portions behind the paywall, but this first one I wanted to share for free. In them, I hope to continue to share insights about sacred medicines, spill behind-the-scenes tea, and give more of my personal experiences and musings as I up the ante on an already strange life I’ve led.
